If there’s one man we’ve come to rely on to serve continually big ‘fits during the on-again, off-again lockdown, it’s former GQ cover star Lewis Hamilton.
As well as flaunting a pair of Virgil Abloh x Mercedes Benz racing gloves on his Instagram story, the Formula One champ shared an image on his main feed of him sporting a 1960s-esque table cloth-check shorts, shirt and bucket hat combo (which we needn’t go into), teamed with a pair of Kim Jones-designed Dior kicks.
That said, it was actually his wrist gear that got us excited, due to the fact that his replica IWC watch is one of the most exciting releases to come out of the Switzerland in the past 12 months.
The ultra-limited edition cheap fake IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition was codesigned by Hamilton last year and only 100 were made. An eye-catching piece, it features a black zirconium oxide ceramic, a Bordeaux-red dial and a set of gold-plated hands. Additionally, the back, rotor and signature IWC cone crown are made from a shiny 18-carat gold. Go big or go home, we say.
And, as ever, it’s not all about looks. Hamilton’s watch comes with an IWC 52615 manufacture calibre, which features IWC’s own Pellaton winding system, as well as a perpetual calendar that displays the date, day, month and year, as well as showing the lunar phase.
Unfortunately for you (and us) Hamilton’s IWC Shaffhausen Big Pilot is no longer available. And with none popping up on popular copy watch resale sites such as Chrono24 and Sterling Vault, all we can do is sit back and observe in envy.
